The physical therapy and rehabilitation process applied after hip/knee replacement surgeries or partial paralysis (stroke) can be quite challenging and painful for the patient. The quality of care at home during this period directly affects the speed of recovery.
Continuity of Exercises
Movements done with a physiotherapist are not enough on their own. Under the supervision of a caregiver or family members, the home exercises prescribed by the doctor must be repeated every day without fail. At this stage, an encouraging attitude should be displayed without forcing the patient.
Beware of Loss of Motivation!
Physical therapy is a long process. The elderly individual may become depressed with the fear of "I won't recover" or may refuse the exercises. Giving them morale by telling them you notice even small progress (e.g., "You took a straighter step today") plays a key role in the success of the treatment.
